About
Main approach
I am an artist and illustrator working in both traditional media and digital. Being able to combine the two freely is one of the main strengths of my practice: depending on the brief, a project can be made entirely digitally or in traditional media and then adapted for commercial use.
Technique
I work with alcohol markers, coloured pencils, oil, watercolour and other traditional media, and I also create digital illustration. Traditional techniques keep the live texture of hand work; digital makes it easy to adapt the image for packaging, print and other applications.
Application
I create illustrations that adapt easily to different briefs and formats — packaging and print, books and magazines, puzzles and textiles, murals and spatial design.
Form and colour
Both form and colour matter to me. Through form I convey the character of the subject; colour helps look at familiar things in a new way and make them more visually expressive.
Working from reference
I work from life and from photographs, studying form, detail and texture. What matters is not how the reference is used, but the ability to see the character of the subject and carry it through my own style.
